Review of Hajj rituals performance in an emergency

As reported by Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization Information Base, at the meeting which was attended by representatives of Supreme Leader Office and Maraji : Javadi Amoli, Haeri, Hakim, Sistani, Shobiri Zanjani, Safi Golpayegani, Makarem Shirazi, Nouri Hamedani and Vahid Khorasani ; various jurisprudential aspects of Hajj al-Tamattu' rituals performance in an emergency were discussed.

Referring to the continuous spread of Corona virus in the world, Supreme Leader's Representative in Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs and Supervisor of Iranian Pilgrims Hojjat al-Islam Seyed Abdolfattah said: given that the virus is still spreading in the world and on the other hand we are facing with the possibility of performing the 1400 Hajj, various possibilities for holding the Hajj are considered in order to save the lives of pilgrims.

Supreme Leader Delegation Office and the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization are trying to plan and anticipate according to each possibility, He added.

Supreme Leader’s representative in Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs, pointing out that the exact time of the next Hajj talks has not been officially announced by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj, emphasized:  some plans to hold Hajj rituals informally have been reported by Saudi Arabia, but these plans have not yet been announced in detail to the Islamic countries’ Hajj organizations, and we hope will be made clear in the talks during coming weeks.

Hojjat al-Islam Navvab by saying that performing Hajj rituals in a normal situation is different from an emergency situation, added: given the continuous spread of coronavirus, the possibility of imposing some restrictions on Hajj rituals in an emergency by Saudi Arabia should be considered.

He said for this reason, this symposium has been held to discuss and exchange views on the issues ahead, and arrangements in terms of acting according to the Shari'a rulings.
