Mural commemorating the martyrs of Mena was unveiled in Tehran
The unveiling ceremony of mural commemorating the martyrs of Mena tragedy was held today in Tehran in the presence of officials from the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization and municipality.
As reported by Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization Information Base, The tableau of the Mena tragedy’s martyrs was painted on the wall near the building of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization. The painting is the work of Master Badr al-Sama.
The unveiling ceremony of this mural, which was painted on the wall of the building at the entrance of Tohid metro was attended by Supreme Leader's Representative in Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs and Supervisor of Iranian Pilgrims Hojjat al-Islam Seyed Abdolfattah Navvab, head of the municipality's cultural and artistic organization Meysam Amroudi, director of the municipal beautification organization Mr. Barzin Zarghami, head of the social and cultural commission of the Tehran City Council Mohammad Javad Haghshenas, as well as a group of officials from the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization and Supreme Leader Delegation Office.
The memorial tableau of the Mena tragedy’s martyrs has been painted in the form of a mural at the suggestion of the Cultural and Artistic Organization of Tehran Municipality and in cooperation with the Beautification Organization.
At the unveiling ceremony of mural commemorating the martyrs of Mena tragedy, Hojjat al-Islam Navvab praised those involved in this cultural and artistic event, and mentioned the Mena tragedy as one of the saddest events of Hajj, which happened due to the recklessness of Saudi Arabia.
Hojjat al-Islam Navvab, referring to the statements of the Supreme Leader about this bitter and sad tragedy, stated: the actions taken with the aim of not forgetting this tragedy are commendable.
On the Mehr 2th; 1394, on the day of Eid al-Adha, the pilgrims who were guests of God were martyred in the land of Mena, and the Saudis did not fulfill their hosting duty, he said.
Supreme Leader’s representative in Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs also stressed the need to keep alive the memory of the martyrs and announced the construction of the Mecca and Mena martyrs’ monument at the entrance of Behesht Zahra (PBUH) with the cooperation of this organization in the future.
Director of the municipal beautification organization Mr. Barzin Zarghami explained the stages of implementing this mural and expressed hope that this organization could continue to take steps to commemorate the memory of the martyrs with its actions.
Head of the social and cultural commission of the Tehran City Council Mohammad Javad Haghshenas praised the efforts of the municipal beautification organization for this valuable work, and described the Mena tragedy as a sign of the inefficiency and inability of the Saudi rulers in Hajj issue, in which pilgrims from more than seventy countries suffered.
The executor of this mural Saeed Chavari, in an interview with a reporter of Hajj Information center, stated that two people worked for nearly forty days to execute this work.
This mural has an area of 200 square meters and is executed with acrylic paint and reinforced with varnish, he added.
The bitter tragedy of Mena occurred in Hajj al-Tamattu’ 1394 on Thursday ( Mehr 2), coinciding with the day of Eid al-Adha, and led to the death of thousands of Muslims around the world in the land of Mena in Saudi Arabia. In this incident, 464 pilgrims of our country were martyred in Ihram clothes.
