Discussing aspects of performing Hajj rituals in an emergency

Following the outbreak of the coronavirus, a meeting was held in Qom with the presence of Maraji representatives and the Supreme Leader's representative in Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs, in order to study various possibilities of performing Hajj rituals in an emergency.

As reported by Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization Information Base, at the meeting which was attended by representatives of Maraji ; Javadi Amoli, Haeri, Hakim, Sobhani, Sistani, Shabbiri Zanjani, Safi Golpayegani, Makarem Shirazi, Nouri Hamedani and Vahid Khorasani ;  various aspects of jurisprudence were discussed in order to perform the rituals of Hajj.
Supreme Leader's Representative in Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs and Supervisor of Iranian Pilgrims Hojjat al-Islam Seyed Abdolfattah Navvab referring to the cultural and executive activities of Hajj 99, said at the meeting: The enrollment of Iranian pilgrims to Hajj al-Tamattu' has started since February and about 75 percent of the caravans' capacity has been completed.
He added: Currently, Hajj al-Tamttu' contracts have been concluded in various fields such as accommodation, nutrition, logistics, transportation and airlines. Pilgrims are also being trained in absentia on cyberspace by the cultural section of Supreme Leader Delegation Office, but in some white cities, these courses are held in person.
Supervisor of Iranian Pilgrims, noting that the managers and clerics have been introduced to form the caravans, said: "Most of the caravans have been formed and the rest of the caravans are completing the allocated quota."
He reminded: "After completing the capacity and determining the number of male and female pilgrims in the caravans, the deputies will be introduced to the caravans soon. Therefore, Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization and Supreme Leader Delegation Office have made the necessary arrangements for performing Hajj al-Tamattu' and dispatching pilgrims in the desired manner.
Supreme Leader's Representative in Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs also pointed to the outbreak of the coronavirus in the world and said: due to the spread of this virus and in order to save the lives of pilgrims, various possibilities have been considered for holding the Hajj al-Tamttu' 99, so Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization and Supreme Leader Delegation Office have planned and anticipated in accordance with each of the possibilities.
He noted that the Saudi Ministry of Hajj had not yet officially announced its official plans for Hajj al-Tamattu', adding that there had been some unofficial reports from Saudi Arabia on holding the Hajj, but it had not yet officially been announced to Hajj Representatives of Islamic Countries.
Hojjat al-Islam Navvab pointed out that performing Hajj rituals in normal situation is different from an emergency, adding that considering the prevalence of the coronavirus, the possibility of some restrictions by Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj rituals in an emergency should be considered.
