First group of Iranian pilgrims left for Syria

The first pilgrimage convoy left for Syria from Imam Khomeini Airport. The first pilgrimage convoy was sent to Syria in the presence of officials from the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization and also Supreme Leader Delegation Office.

As reported by Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization Information Base, The first convoy of Iranian pilgrims left Tehran's Imam Khomeini Airport for Damascus Airport this evening during a ceremony attended by officials from the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization and Supreme Leader Delegation Office.


After about two years waiting, pilgrimage trips to Syria in the form of 25-person caravans began today and the doors of Aqila Bani Hashim’s shrine and the three-year monument of Hazrat Aba Abdullah Al-Hussein (AS) were opened to pilgrims and the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) lovers.


During the ceremony of sending Iranian pilgrims to Syria, cultural deputy in the Supreme Leader Delegation Office, Hojjat al-Islam Seyed Hossein Rokn Al-Dini spoke about the importance and value of pilgrimage and advised pilgrims to seize the opportunity of visiting shrines of Hazrat Zainab and Hazrat Roghayeh (peace be upon them) and especially in this spiritual journey make the most of these days.


Regarding the simultaneous dispatch of Iranian pilgrims’ official convoy to Syria with the Fatimid era and the night of Haj Qassem Soleimani martyrdom, cultural deputy in the Supreme Leader Delegation Office said: The opening of this path is due to the courage of the Sardar of hearts and the companions of that martyr and also the sincere martyrs of holy shrine defender.


In the continuation of this meeting, deputy Head of Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization in Atabat affairs Hojjat al-Islam Sohbatollah Rahmani announced the continuation of sending pilgrims to Syria in the form of 25-person caravans.


The caravans of Iranian pilgrims will be sent to Damascus in the form of two groups of pilgrims for three or four nights, and the second and third groups will visit the shrine of the Karbala’s hero and the three-year-old daughter of Imam Hussein (AS) on the month of Dey 16 and 19, he said.


According to this report, head of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization Mr. Ali Reza Rashidian, previously announced: there are two flights to Syria every week, and the estimated price for sending pilgrims is from 8.9 million to 9.9 million tomans.


It is worth mentioning that pilgrimages to Syria had been stopped in recent years due to corona pandemic.
