The Zionist regime is seeking to coax the Nigerian government into assassination of the African country's top Shia leader Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, his son revealed on Wednesday.
"Given the Zionists' strong relations with the Nigerian government, they always take action against the Shias in Nigeria," Ali Zakzaky told the Fars news agency.
He revealed that the Zionists are pressuring the Nigerian government to assassinate Sheikh Zakzaky soon, and the government is looking for an opportunity as it also sees the Shia leader as a burden due to his harsh criticism of the government's atrocities against people.
"The US and the Zionists are pressuring the government to assassinate the Nigerian Shia leader for their fear of the 12-million-strong Shia population in Nigeria," Ali Zakzaky said.
A suicide bomber detonated himself in the Tsohuwar Kasuwa area of the Nigerian town after joining Shia worshippers who were marching to mark Ashura, a solemn day when Shias mourn the martyrdom of Imam Hossein (AS), a grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), in 680 AD at Karbala in Iraq.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack which killed at least 20 and injured over 50, but suspicion is bound to fall on the Boko Haram terrorist group.
