Supreme Leader's Representative Meet Brunei Ambassador in Tehran
Ambassador of Brunei in Iran met and conferred with Hojjat al-Islam Seyed Abdolfattah Navvab, the Supreme Leader's representative for Hajj and Pilgrimage and the head of Iranian pilgrims.
According to the Hajj Information Base, Brunei's Ambassador in Iran Haji Ismail Abdul Manap met with Hojjat al-Islam Navvab at the premises of the Supreme Leader's representative in Tehran where they discussed cooperation between the two countries in the field of Hajj and Pilgrimage.
During the meeting which was also attended by several officials of the Supreme Leader's office and the deputy ambassador of Brunei, the two sides exchanged views on the expansion and deepening of cooperation in the field of Hajj and called for more contacts between relevant officials in this field.
Hojjat al-Islam Navvab described the opportunities of the two countries in various fields, especially in the field of Hajj and pilgrimage, and said, "The capacity of Hajj is so wide that it can insure Islamic countries for many years and create religious solidarity."
The Supreme Leader's representative deemed the presence of prominent Bruneian scholars in various gatherings and conferences in the Islamic Republic of Iran as an indication of the convergence and solidarity of the scholars of the two countries, and said, "The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to cooperate with Brunei in the development of Hajj programs."
During meeting, the two sides gave explanations about how to send pilgrims from their respective countries to the land of revelation.
Also during the meeting, the ambassador of Brunei pointed out the ten-year long queue of pilgrims from this country to visit the Hajj and the cost of 15,000 dollars for this trip.
He stated that Brunei has many problems and limitations in the area of Hajj, and added that the matters related to Brunei's Hajj and Umrah are handled by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of this country, and unfortunately, during the last Hajj, the country's quota was greatly reduced and only 453 people were dispatched to the Land of Revelation.
Hojjat al-Islam Navvab also pointed out that it has been 15 years since new registration for sending pilgrims to Hajj pilgrimage has been done in Iran, and said that currently, more than one million people are waiting, and it will take more than 10 years to send them and in this way, between the sending of the first registration group and the last group, it will reach about 30 years.
"In case of interaction, cooperation and better grounding of Saudi Arabia to send more pilgrims, such long queues would not have arisen in Islamic countries," he added.
At the end of this meeting, the two sides mentioned the shared views of the two countries on the issues related to the sending of pilgrims, and the representative of the Supreme Leader, and said, "The Research School of Hajj and Pilgrimage in Qom is affiliated to the Supreme Leader's representative office and conducts research various topics in the field of Hajj and Pilgrimage, such as rituals and it deals with the rules, secrets and teachings of Hajj, the history of Islam, the historical places of Mecca and Medina and is ready to make the publications and 1500 works compiled in this research center are available to the Brunei Hajj Organization.
