Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi:
Costume and adornment of Iranian pilgrims in Hajj Rituals Should Suit Muslims

Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi said that the dress and grooming of Iranian pilgrims should be worthy of the dignity and status of an Iranian Muslim.

According to the Hajj Information Base, Supreme Leader's Representative in Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs Hojjat al-Islam Seyed Abdolfattah Navvab and Head of Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization Seyed Sadeq Hosseini met and conferred with Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi.


Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi said during the meeting that the clerics of the caravans need to spend time for the pilgrims, and added, "The clerics have a heavy responsibility towards the pilgrims and they must supervise their actions and rituals and even correct their reading prayers and also reading the Holy Quran.


He pointed out that the necessity of proper costume for pilgrims and said that the clothing and grooming of Iranian pilgrims should be worthy of the dignity and status of an Iranian Muslim.


The senior cleric emphasized avoiding extravagance and taking advantage of the spiritual opportunity of Hajj, and said, "Hajj opportunity is a golden opportunity that is very difficult to repeat, so they should look for something in those holy places that cannot be found elsewhere."


Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi pointed out that among the pilgrims, there are some people who have weak financial or physical resources, and officials and other pilgrims should help and assist such people to the best of their ability.
