Commander of the country's airports police:
we did not have any detained pilgrims at Saudi airports, by the proper arrangements of police
Referring to arrangements in order to inform and justify pilgrims all around the country, Iran's airports police commander brigadier general Mohsen Aghili clarified in a meeting with Supreme Leader's representative in Hajj and Pilgrimage affairs and head of Iranian pilgrims Hojjat al-Islam Seyed Abdolfattah Navvab that we did not have any detained pilgrims at Saudi airports for carrying narcotic drugs.
According to the Hajj information base, at the meeting, which was attended by several officials of the country's airports police, Sardar Mohsen Aghili presented a detailed report on the discovery of narcotic drugs from this year's Hajj pilgrims and also plans and actions of the airports police and said: with trust in God Almighty and full preparation, this mission was carried out in coordination with Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization and Supreme Leader Delegation Office.
Stating the control measures of police at flight stations in order to protect the dignity of pilgrims and also referring the courage and patience of the people who were searched, Sardar Aghili added: Wide awareness and justification by sending about 500 thousand text messages and holding face-to-face meetings among the pilgrims in the caravans before the start of the journey at the airport had positive effects.
He also said: maintaining the respect and honor of Iranian pilgrims in the host country is due to the strict measures inside the country to prevent carrying drugs by the pilgrims.
Referring to the number of discoveries of narcotic drugs and their derivatives, psychedelic drug and codeine syrups and the arrest of pilgrims in this relation, he added: although these pilgrims were dealt legally, but they are not aware of sensitivities and dealing with drug carriers in the host country, and fortunately with proper measures, they were prevented from carrying drugs and arresting our country pilgrims in Saudi Arabia.
Appreciating the efforts of airports police forces in the Hajj 1402, Supreme Leader's representative in Hajj and Pilgrimage affairs pointed out at this meeting that some pilgrims complained about the inspections at flight stations when visiting hotels.
Hojjat al-Islam Navvab advised that if police suspect a pilgrim during pilgrimage trips, police measures should be taken while respecting his dignity and should be done in such a way that people's reputations are not harmed.
Stating that honoring the pilgrims of Baitullah Al-Haram and Prophet's Shrine is one of the prides of police officers, Sardar Aghili said: it was tried during the Hajj season, we witness the satisfaction of pilgrims with the performance of airports police in addition to fulfilling the assigned duties and responsibilities.
Referring to various tricks used to take narcotic drugs out of the country, he added: in order to protect the dignity and also protecting the regime and dear pilgrims of our country and to prevent taking narcotic drugs out of country by a small number of pilgrims, arrangements are taken during inspections and police measures so that no insult or humiliation is directed at the pilgrims. Police has respectful and positive behavior with pilgrims who are inspect due to suspicion.
At the end of the meeting, commander of airports police congratulated the Supreme Leader’s representative in Hajj and Pilgrimage affairs for the successful holding of Hajj operation and added: "the heavy operation was very dignified and well organized and the efforts are commendable."
He also advised the pilgrims of next year's Hajj to stop using drugs from now on.
