Representative of Supreme Leader for Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs: Consultation to Transfer 1404 Pilgrims to Taif Airport
The representative of the Supreme Leader for Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs while referring to the continuation of flights of Iranian pilgrims to Taif Airport in Saudi Arabia during the days of Umrah announced the efforts of Iranian officials to continue flights to this airport during the 1404 Hajj operation.
According to the Hajj Information Center, Hojjat al-Islam Seyed Abdolfattah Navvab said before leaving for the Umrah pilgrimage, "The possibility of flying pilgrims to the Holy House from Shahid Dastgheib International Airport in Shiraz to Taif Airport in Saudi Arabia has been provided, and every five days, Iranian pilgrims will be sent to this airport on a flight from Shahid Dastgheib International Airport in Shiraz.
The head of Iranian pilgrims also said that we are trying to provide the basis for sending our country’s pilgrims to Taif Airport in other provinces of the country.
"Although Taif Airport is smaller than other airports in the host country, this airport is more suitable for the well-being of Iranian pilgrims," Hojjat al-Islam Navvab added.
Regarding the advantage of sending Iranian pilgrims to Taif Airport in Saudi Arabia, Hojjat al-Islam Navvab said, "If this is done, it will have an impact on the pilgrims' journey because pilgrims traveling from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, have to travel a 900-kilometer route, but the route to Taif is 500 kilometers and it will have an impact on reducing the journey by one day."
The Supreme Leader's representative for Hajj and pilgrimage affairs also said about the status of Hajj flights for 1404: "Due to the sanctions, domestic flights may not be able to transport all of the country's pilgrims to Saudi Arabia, so we plan to use non-Iranian flights as well."
