Importance of Muvasat in Islam, Especially During Month of Ramadan
The Supreme Leader's representative for Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs while referring to the importance of compassion and the necessity of helping one's religious brother, mentioned Hazrat Khadija (SA) as one of the most prominent examples of practicing Muvasat (compassion) in Islam.
According to the Hajj Information Base, Seyed Abdolfattah Navvab, the Supreme Leader's representative for Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs, who spoke today at a meeting of the Supreme Leader's delegation and the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization in the prayer hall of the complex, pointed out the importance of Muvasat in religion, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
"The Prophet Muhammad has said: 'The master of deeds has three qualities: being just to people, helping and sympathizing with your religious brother, and remembering Allah Almighty in all circumstances.'," he added.
Pointing out that fairness towards others means that a person sets himself as the standard, he added: "Based on the hadiths of the infallibles, especially the Holy Prophet (PBUH), one of the seven rights of a believer towards his religious brother is compassion."
Regarding the definition of Muvasat, he also said that the lower limit of compassion is helping and assisting a believing brother, and the upper limit is self-sacrifice and dedication.
The representative of the Supreme Leader in matters of Hajj and pilgrimage reminded us of the need to be attentive to helping our religious brothers by giving an example and described the actions of Imam Ali (AS) as one of the most prominent examples of compassion in Islam.
Referring to the story of the Imam's sacrifice for the Prophet (PBUH) in the Battle of Uhud, he said that after this event and the sacrifice of Imam Ali (AS) for the Prophet, it is said by Gabriel: "There is no young man but Ali, and no sword but Dhu al-Fiqar."
Hojjat al-Islam Navvab mentioned some passages from the Ziyarat-e-Namah of Hazrat Abbas ibn Ali (AS) and called him one of the shining examples of Muvasat (compassion).
He also mentioned this narration from Imam Kazem (AS) which says: “The believer does not draw closer to God Almighty with anything better than consoling another believer, and this is what God Almighty says: “You will never attain righteousness until you spend from that which you love.”
He also referred to the anniversary of the death of Hazrat Khadija (SA), which is the tenth day of the holy month of Ramadan, and described Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) about her, saying that Hazrat Khadija played a very important role in helping the Holy Prophet (PBUH) to spread Islam with her compassion and especially with her financial support.
The representative of the Supreme Leader for Hajj and Pilgrimage continued: The Prophet said: "Where is the like of Khadija?! She believed me when people denied me, and she supported me in the religion of Allah, and she supported me in it with her wealth."
Referring to the fact that Hazrat Khadija and Hazrat Abu Taleb, the father of Imam Ali (AS), passed away in the tenth year of the mission, he stated: This year was so difficult for the Holy Prophet (PBUH) that the Prophet called that year the Year of Sorrow.
At the end of his speech, Hojjat al-Islam Navvab called on everyone, especially the individuals present, to help others, especially during the blessed month of Ramadan, and said that the amount of this assistance depends on the individuals' means; therefore, "we should not imagine that the assistance must be very large. After all, the person who bought Yusuf (AS) with a bundle did not have much money, but his name remained in history due to his work."
