Supreme Leader's representative in Hajj and Pilgrimage affairs:
The value of Hajj health workers' task is equal to martyrdom
Referring to a hadith from the Infallible Imam (AS), On Friday (May 12), Supreme Leader’s representative in Hajj and Pilgrimage affairs said at the Hajj Healthcare Workers conference that the value of health workers task, especially during the Hajj journey is equal to martyrdom. The patient you treat will be performing Tawaf and Pilgrimage a few hours later, and you will share in his reward.
According to the Hajj Information base, at this conference, which was organized by the Red Crescent of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Supreme Leader's representative in Hajj and Pilgrimage affairs and head of the Iranian pilgrims Hojjat al-Islam Seyed Abdolfattah Navvab addressed the health and medical staff of the Hajj, congratulating those who are going to Hajj for the first time and said: you are going to the pinnacle of spirituality in the world, where ,on one side is the house of God and on the other side is the shrine of the Prophet of Islam (PBUH), and you are also doing a great deed. Therefore, do not go to the clinic in that land without ablution, and perform your duties every day in memory of your ancestors, teachers, and those who have rights, and take some luggage from this trip.
Emphasizing that health workers must first protect their own health, he added we have reduced the number of workers in all areas of Hajj and pilgrimage, including medical staff, so that more pilgrims can have the opportunity to perform the pilgrimage.
Head of the Iranian pilgrims considered the value of any service to be its effects and results, and referring to a verse of the holy Surah Al-Ma'idah, he said: when you revive a person so that he can recover and complete the hajj rituals, it is as if you have revived all humans. Health is the highest blessing and you are the one who creates the ground for it. The value of your work, especially during the Hajj journey, is equal to martyrdom; the patient you treat will be performing Tawaf and pilgrimage a few hours later, and you also share in his reward.
Referring to a hadith from Imam Ali (AS), Hojjat al-Islam Navvab said: a great person is one who tolerates the others’ hardships, and you, my dears, are an example of this greatness.
Referring to the reduction in the number of medical staff of the Red Crescent forces in Hajj, he said: due to this reduction in the number of medical staff, the medical team that is dispatched naturally faces more work pressure, especially in the high heat; but with the dedication of the Red Crescent forces, the Academy of Medical Sciences, and other Hajj factors - due to the reduction in the number of their forces to increase the number of pilgrims - seven more pilgrim caravans were dispatched last year.
Referring to the planning of pre-departure examinations and the movement of pilgrims by umbrella during Eid al-Adha and also 36% reduction in deaths, Supreme Leader's representative in Hajj and pilgrimage affairs continued that the work can be done better than this. Medical matters can be taught in caravan meetings and a clip on health and hygiene issues can be shown every day in the caravan clergy meeting.
In conclusion, he referred to the positive effects of service and kindness to people on the soul, mind, and body of the person serving and said: If a pilgrim hears something from a doctor, it is effective; therefore, take advantage of the opportunities. In addition to being a physician of the body, be a physician of the soul with your behavior, and know that respect and humility for pilgrims is respect for God's guests, and God will give a higher response to your service.
