Head of Iranian pilgrims: Hajj Is A Golden Opportunity for Self-Knowledge

Hojjat al-Islam Navvab considered the Hajj pilgrims' farewell ceremony a golden opportunity for self-knowledge and knowledge in religion.

According to the Hajj Information Base, Hojjat al-Islam Seyed Abdolfattah Navvab, the representative of the Supreme Leader for Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs and the head of Iranian pilgrims, explained the importance of knowledge and understanding in religion at the opening ceremony of the Hajj flights for Tamattu 1404 and the farewell ceremony for the first caravans of Iranian pilgrims held at the Salam Terminal of Imam Khomeini Airport (RA).

Referring to the Supreme Leader's emphasis in his meeting with Hajj officials on the necessity of knowing and understanding Hajj and paying attention to its potential, he referred to narrations and hadiths from the infallible Imams, especially the Commander of the Faithful, Imam Ali (AS), about knowledge in religion.

The representative of the Supreme Leader in Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs, stating that Imam Ali (AS) has said that there is no movement or activity unless it requires knowledge, asked all pilgrims to pay special attention to the cognitive aspect of rituals in this spiritual and moral journey and to use the clergy of the caravans who are at the service of the pilgrims day and night.

Hojjat al-Islam Navvab continued to address the issue of "self-knowledge" as one of the most important aspects of "knowledge" and said that self-knowledge in religion is of very special importance and even higher than knowledge of rituals, because self-knowledge can also move on the path of understanding the teachings of religion.

He considered "self-knowledge" and "self-evaluation" to be one of the key prerequisites for "reform" in an individual and said that the days of Hajj are a fundamental and unique opportunity for self-reflection, self-knowledge, and repentance.

At the end of his speech, the representative of the Supreme Leader for Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs recalled the recent very bitter incident in Bandar Abbas and, while offering renewed condolences for this tragedy, asked the pilgrims to pray for the happiness of the souls of the deceased and the peace of the hearts of the survivors.
