At the meeting of Hajj medical officials and head of the Iranian pilgrims:
40,000 medical services to Iranian pilgrims in Mecca and Medina; Establishing clinics to serve pilgrims

Head of the Hajj and Pilgrimage medical team, in a meeting with the group's officials and head of the Iranian pilgrims, announced the provision of 40,000 medical services to Iranian pilgrims in Mecca and Medina.

According to the Hajj Information base, Red Crescent Hajj and Pilgrimage medical team officials met today with Supreme Leader's representative in Hajj and Pilgrimage affairs and head of the Iranian pilgrims Hojjat al-Islam Seyed Abdolfattah Navvab.


Dr. Seyed Ali Marashi announced in a report at the meeting that from the beginning of Hajj operations utill Khordad 4th evening, more than 40,000 medical services have been provided, including 8,335 visits in Mecca and Medina, and almost the entire 365- member medical team has arrived in the Land of Revelation.


Stating that we have clinics in hotels of Mecca, he added:  round-the-clock clinics with specialist doctors have also been activated.


Referring to the hospitalization of 18 pilgrims in an Iranian hospital in Mecca and the presence of 12 pilgrims in hospitals in Saudi Arabia, Dr. Marashi said: one person underwent heart surgery and another underwent gallbladder stone surgery.


Referring to the resolution of some problems with the clearance of medicine, head of the Hajj and Pilgrimage medical team announced the transfer of more than 53 ton of medicine to Mecca and Medina, adding: although the Hajj medical team has reduced its staff by 29 people, this reduction in staff has been compensated by the increased activity of the medical staff.



Head of the Iranian Hospital in Mecca Dr. Mohammad Reza Shams Ardakani pointed out at the meeting that the examinations are useful in making medical activities smoother than in the past and stated: among the pilgrims, we have 23,000 with high blood pressure, 16,000 with diabetes, 1,021 pilgrims over 80 years old, and 12,000 pilgrims over 70 years old, and 88 pilgrims have had heart surgery, which increases the number of visits to medical centers.


In this meeting, Supreme Leader's representative in Hajj and Pilgrimage affairs and head of the Iranian pilgrims Hojjat al-Islam Seyed Abdolfattah Navvab attributed the 36% decrease in deaths during 1403 compared to the previous year, to prevention, good examinations, and using umbrellas (on Eid al-Adha to go to the Jamarat), adding: we must do the works as compassionately and without problems as we can, and take every necessary measure to prevent difficulties with the health of pilgrims.


He considered the presence of medical center doctors to serve pilgrims as a divine blessing and added: many specialists wish to serve God's guests, even at a cost, but God has given you this opportunity. Therefore, you should appreciate this opportunity and it is important that a person does his work for God and deals only with God.



Stating that we must both spend money and conduct educational and informative work for the health of pilgrims, head of the Iranian pilgrims said: "You doctors always emphasize that prevention is better than cure. Therefore, Dr. Marashi and his colleagues can prepare brochures and informative and educational clips to reduce the medical problems of pilgrims during the days of Tashreeq by observing certain matters."
