Head of Iranian Pilgrims Among Observers and Inspectors of Mission: Greater Use of Modern Technologies in Serving Pilgrims Should Be Emphasized

A group of members of the Supreme Leader's delegation met with Hojjat al-Islam Seyed Abdolfattah Navvab, the Supreme Leader's representative for Hajj and pilgrimage affairs and the head of Iranian pilgrims, in Mecca on Monday night, and presented a report on their supervision and inspections.

According to Hajj Information Base, the Supreme Leader's representative for Hajj and pilgrimage affairs described inspection and supervision as a very sensitive task in this meeting and said that the inspector, in line with the realization of the pilgrim's rights, also makes judgments along with supervision, which must be realistic, and this is not an easy task.

Referring to two types of criticism, Hojjat al-Islam Navvab said that criticism of good deeds, i.e. highlighting appropriate and creative actions taken by individuals, is definitely desirable and helps in setting a model, improving behavior, and progressing affairs. However, criticism of shortcomings is not a solution and does not lead anywhere; rather, the better way is to conduct the necessary investigation, guidance, warnings, and assistance to improve matters.

Referring to some inspection reports that, in addition to pointing out shortcomings, suggested solutions were also presented, he described these types of reports as very valuable, and said: Any monitoring that leads to improving processes and services to pilgrims is definitely valuable.

Stating that both the Charter of Pilgrims' Rights and the Charter of Duties and Rights of Agents must be updated, the Iranian Hajj Supervisor stated that if the description of duties and rights of individuals is carefully updated, it will help improve matters.

Referring to technological advances, especially the advances that have been made in the field of artificial intelligence, Hojjat al-Islam Navvab emphasized that in proportion to the progress of science and technology, "we must distance ourselves from traditional methods of service provision and turn to new methods"; as this has been done in some areas and has also yielded desirable results.

Mr. Hossein Esmaili, Director of the Supreme Leader's Delegation's Supervision and Inspection Office, presented a detailed report on the performance of various departments of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Headquarters, including accommodation, intercity and intracity transportation, flights, nutrition and supplies, medicine, etc., in this meeting, and said that despite some ups and downs and issues, the inspection and supervision assessments evaluate the entire Hajj operation 1404 positively and the performance of the relevant officials as overall satisfactory.

He pointed out that so far 60 inspection reports on the Hajj implementation operations have been prepared and submitted to the head of Iranian pilgrims, as well as the head of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization, and said that following these reports, the necessary orders have been issued immediately and the work of resolving the problem has been referred to the relevant department.

Mr. Esmaili noted that 2,637 honorary colleagues have been identified for the Hajj season 1404, of which over 90 percent have bachelor's, master's or doctoral degrees.

He said that so far 283 reports from honorary inspectors have been received in writing and the issue has been followed up.

In another part of the meeting, the observers and inspectors emphasized the need to follow up on the insurance rights of pilgrims from the host country's insurance companies. According to the observers' report, people who suffer accidents during the Hajj season can receive compensation, and even for those who cannot perform their Hajj due to problems beyond their control, there are opportunities for them or their representatives to attend the Hajj next year, with insurance companies paying a portion of their expenses.
