Maronite Cardinal Patriarch Bechara Boutros al-Rahi stressed the need for a continuing dialogue between Islam and Christianity to stop wars and conflicts in the Middle East. He made the remarks in a meeting with the head of Islamic Culture and Relations Organizations Abuzar Ebrahimi in Tehran on Monday. The two officials exchanged views on ways of deepening dialogue between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Lebanese Maronite Church and stressed the need for attempts to stop destruction of a civilization jointly built by Christians and Muslims in the region. They also underscored the importance of adhering to the role models and principles shared by Muslims and Christians. Ebrahimi is in Lebanon to take part in the sixth round of inter-religions dialogues.
